Trees & Plants
Sacramento Tree Foundation, Leader Award Winning series of multiple 8-week Leading Education and Awareness of Urban Forestry (LEAF) Volunteer Leadership Training Programs for adults.
Engage in tree planting, volunteerism and community stewardship. Trained 90 new volunteer leaders during the series of programs.
Funded by a grant from CA Dept of Forestry & Fire Protection (CALFIRE)
Garden
Nature Detectives in kindergarten through 3rd grade attend weekly afterschool programs to observe, smell, touch, draw and enjoy flowers in Spring during the “Nature in Motion” series of seasonally themed programs. Programs are either 4 or 8 weeks.
Fall: Trees as Habitat and Winter Wisdom are the two additional seasons. Five Discovery Guide booklets are designed as training tools for new leaders and homeschool parents.
Nature Detectives at Home is a 24-page guidebook presenting a selection of Nature Detectives activities and additional resources for parents, grandparents and care providers to introduce nature discovery at home, park or neighborhood.
